Who is a Person of Indian Origin?

A Person of Indian origin is a citizen of any country other than Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Iran, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Nepal, who at any time in his or her life, held an Indian passport.

For the purposes of investments in shares/securities in India, person of Indian origin means a citizen of any country other than Pakistan or Bangladesh, if:

(a)She or he at any time held an Indian passport (or)

(b)She/he or either of his parents or any of his grandparents was/were a citizen of India by virtue of the Constitution of India or the Citizenship Act of 1955(57 of 1995)

(or) She/he is a spouse of an Indian citizen or a person referred to in points (a) or (b)
